Vintage Official Clark Kent Glasses…?

A curious addition to the archives is this pair of unassuming tortoiseshell eyeglasses in the style of our favorite mild-mannered Daily Planet journalist. Look closer though and you’ll discover the familiar crest of his famous alter-ego on the arms and fine print confirming DC Comics endorsement in the year of the release for Superman: The Movie. I had no prior knowledge of the existence of these nor any other tie-in for eyewear related to the Movies so would like to extend my thanks to Alexei Lambley-Steel for showing me something ‘new’ and providing the pics from his collection…!

  1. Those are pretty cool! Seems like an odd replica for the time…maybe a prototype, or they used Superman to help sell their frames although it's hard to imagine people wanting to emulate Clark.

  2. Thanks for your comment –

They are a real enigma. Never in all my years of collecting have I ever seen or heard of these things so they are at the very least, unique if not the most screen-accurate. A valuation would be interesting also…
